Atlanta United is closing in on a deal to acquire American midfielder Adrian Gill on a permanent transfer from FC Barcelona, multiple outlets reported Thursday.
Gill, 20, is a native of Denver, who was signed to Barcelona's academy in 2018, one year after his family moved to Spain. He was playing for the club's B team until a transfer this season to UE Cornella of Spain's fifth tier.
Gill's development was slowed by an ACL tear in 2023 that occurred while in training with the first team. Before the injury, Gill made 10 appearances with the United States U17 team.
Atlanta United opens the MLS season on Feb. 21 with a visit to FC Cincinnati.
